Support for Humane Standards
New Jersey Legislators JOSEPH F. VITALE March 30, 2001 Dear Secretary Brown, I am writing to you regarding the adoption of new standards of humane treatment of farm animals. As a member of the Environment Committee, this issue is of utmost importance to me. Since the Department of Agriculture is responsible for these standards, I am requesting that you take this opportunity to develop purposeful rules with regards to humane treatment. I am sure you will agree that all creatures deserve our compassion and respect. Consequently, I ask that you consider this when adopting new standards and rules for treatment.
