Dear Secretary Brown,

I have recently been contacted by an organization known as Farm Sanctuary with New York and California offices. I understand that the New Jersey Department of Agriculture is currently developing standards for the "humane raising, keeping, care, treatment, marketing, and sale of domestic livestock."

It seems that New Jersey has the opportunity to become the model for the rest of the country. We can develop substantive, realistic and humane standards that will not only benefit the animals but also prove not too onerous for farmers.

I encourage you to create these meaningful standards in a timely fashion so we can begin enjoying the benefits as soon as possible. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to call.

Faithfully,
Michael J. Arnone, DDS
