Dear Secretary of Agriculture,
I am writing to you because I object to the use of veal
crates, gestation stalls for sows, battery cages for egg-laying
hens, forced molting of egg-laying hens, castration, debeaking,
and tail docking. When my religious school class at Temple Shalom
of West Essex learned of these atrocities, we decided to write
to you. When I heard about veal crates, I decided to stop eating
veal.
Veal crates are a terrible thing. Animals shouldn't be caged
up for their whole lives. The living quarters in veal crates
are very small and they calves are only fed milk. The world
is meant for all living things to enjoy, animals should be free.
Thank you for serving this righteous cause. I hope that together we can do something to help this situation.
Sincerely,
Sarah L. Gold

Dear Secretary of Agriculture,
I am very upset about the way some farms treat their animals
before their slaughter, and I want New Jersey to be the first
state in the United States to make laws that will make farms
more humane to animals. These are the things that should be
made better: Gestation stalls for sows, battery cages for egg-laying
hens, forced molting of egg-laying hens, veal crates, castration,
debeaking, and tail-docking. These are cruel to animals, and
there should be put laws on them. Animals deserve to live a
good life, too!
Please help to make laws against the cruelties to farm animals. If we stand together against this, we can make a change.
Sincerely,
Ben Burnham

Dear Secretary of Agriculture,
My 6th grade class at Temple Shalom of West Essex and I would like to help make a movement against hurting animals for food and making their lives miserable. We would appreciate it so much if someone could help us put a stop to this. We feel so awful for these animals and we would love to see all of this change. So please help us put a stop to this.
Sincerely,
Howard Gilson

Dear Secretary of Agriculture,
I am writing from Temple Shalom of West Essex about cruelty
to animals in the state of New Jersey. I think the animals should
be treated with more respect. I read about this and thought
how horrible it must be for the animals. Do you not have a beak?
Or, are you separated from your mother and only drinking milk
in darkness and never seeing the world? I am aware that other
things also happen to the animals that are just as bad but,
these two remained with me after all was done and at home eating
dinner. I am not a meat eater myself, but would the State of
New Jersey not get as quality food as possible to make the lives
of animals better, even though they are in these places? They
are prisoners. For them, the grass is not greener on the other
side. Please make life better for animals in the state of New
Jersey.
Sincerely,
Matthew Simeoni

To whom it may concern,
I believe that farm animals should not be treated in the cruel manner that they are on some farms in our country. Many practices are inhumane such as animals being unnecessarily crated, castrated, debeaked, and tail-docked. Animals who will provide us with food must be treated in a kinder manner. Please begin to enact laws that will improve the conditions for farm animals. In our country, humans are not treated in such a poor manner, therefore, it is wrong to take advantage of these poor animals. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Adam Agins
