NEW JERSEY VEAL BILL ADVANCES!

Photographs

Birds in a battery cage at an egg factory in Cumberland County, NJ clearly show feather loss, a result of constant rubbing up against wire cages. The birds are also debeaked (in a painful procedure that involves slicing off a part of their beaks without anaesthetic) in order to minimize feather loss from pecking one another, a behavior caused by overcrowding.
