Cruel Farming Systems
In recent decades, farm animals in the United States have been
subjected to intensive confinement and crowded so tightly that they
cannot even turn around or stretch their limbs. Chickens, pigs,
and cattle are packed into cages or crates which are lined up in
rows in huge factory warehouses, and in many instances, the animals
are kept here for years.
Other developed countries have enacted legislation prohibiting
the cruel confinement of farm animals, but the United States has
lagged far behind, and intensive confinement "factory farms"
have become common across the United States.
